I have to admit I really like You tube. It is the only subscription service I have at the moment! I watch movies, listen to music and podcasts, watch news and other stuff there. I also use Youtube to learn how to fix things – I repaired my own toilet recently!

Here are three categories of videos I like to watch- with a couple of suggestions in each category.

1. Fitness (of course!)

One creator I enjoy is Madalaine Rascan — a young Canadian woman who is absolutely hilarious. Here’s one of her short videos. Another favorite in this category is Jeff Nippard. He’s also Canadian and takes a science-based approach to weightlifting. His content is well-researched, and the production quality is top-notch. Check out this short video about exercises for your glutes (aka your backside!)

Some of the exercises Jeff demonstrates might not be accessible if you’re not in a gym or have other limitations. If that’s the case, I’ve got you covered! I have some short videos on my own channel with alternatives you can do at home:

Follow me on YouTube here, and let me know in the comments what kinds of videos you’d like to see!

2. Fashion (just for fun)

Another Canadian creator I enjoy is Alyssa Beltempo. Her channel focuses on “slow fashion” with an emphasis on thoughtful consumption. Here’s a recent video of hers I liked.

I also really enjoy Hannah Louise Poston — she’s a poet with a deep interest in fashion psychology. Here’s a recent favorite from her channel.

3. Skincare & Makeup (my comfort zone)

There’s just something relaxing about watching other people put on makeup — is it just me? 🤷‍♀️

Vogue has a fun YouTube series featuring celebrities sharing their skincare and makeup routines. A few standouts:

  • Salma Hayek Pinault smudges a bunch of stuff on her face and somehow ends up looking amazing.

  • Julianne Moore has strong feelings about orange makeup for redheads 😅

  • Hailey Bieber goes for a super natural look… using at least seven products! Also, she draws on freckles — and I love that.
